After spending a few years as a freelance circus entertainer I decided to follow my life-long love of drawing. I recently graduated with first class honours at Norwich University College of the Arts in 2011 where I studied BA illustration.
Ideas for my images come from growing up and working in a northern ex-fishing town and its’ conjoined decrepit seaside resort. I collect poorly reproduced toys and printed ephemera usually found in the local newspaper archives, car boot sales or souvenir shops. I work mainly in monoprint, which for me sits between conventional drawing, lo-fi photo reproduction and an unpredictable form of mark making. I use a simple language of black humour, limited colour and quotidian subject matter to achieve images I care about.
Recent clients include; The New York Times, Creative Review, Nutshell Magazine, Storehouse, The Project Paper and the Meniscus Film Festival. I've been published by various zines, blogs and interviews.
